ARRANGEMENT OF SECTION

1. Section 25B inserted

PURPOSE

AN ACT to amend the Electronic Communications Act, 2008 (Act 775) to exempt incoming intra-community roaming traffic within the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) region from the minimum rate for international incoming electronic communication traffic and for related matters.

1. Section 25B inserted

The Electronic Communications Act, 2008 (Act 775) is amended by the insertion after section 25A of section 25B as follows:

"25B. Exemption from minimum rate for international incoming traffic
(1) Despite subsection (1) of section 25A, incoming intracommunity roaming traffic within the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) region is exempt from the minimum rate for international incoming electronic communication traffic.
(2) The Authority shall issue directives periodically to determine the rate for incoming intra-community roaming traffic within the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) region in accordance with Regulation C/REG. 21/12/17 on Roaming on Public Mobile Communications Networks in the ECOWAS Region or any other Regulation in force; and on related matters.".
