LONG TITLE
AN ACT to amend the Forest Development Fund Act, 2000 (Act 583) to enable plantation growers, both in the public and private sectors, to participate in forest plantation and to provide for related matters.

ACT
1. Section 2 of Act 583 amended
The Forest Plantation Development Fund Act, 2000 (Act 583) referred to as "principal enactment" is amended in section 2 as follows:
- (a) by the deletions of the words "private" and "commercial" in paragraph (a) and
- (b) by the deletion of the word "commercial" in paragraph (b).
2. Section 4 of Act 583 amended
The principal enactment is amended in section 4 as follows:
- (a) in paragraph (b) by the deletion of the word "private"; and
- (b) by the substitution for paragraph (d) of the following:
- "(d) moneys to support forest plantation development
- (i) provided by Parliament from the Consolidated Fund and
- (ii) from any other source approved by the Minister for Finance"
- "(d) moneys to support forest plantation development
3. Section 6 of Act 583 amended
The principal enactment is amended by the substitution for subsection (2) of section 6 of the following:
- "(2) The Board consists of
- (a) A chairman who is a person involved with the plantation industry
- (b) The Chief Director of the Ministry of Lands and Forestry
- (c) Two representatives of institutions, organizations, companies or bodies involved with the plantation industry
- (d) One representative of tree growers
- (e) One representative of the Fund Management Bank; and
- (f) One representative of a donor or a financial agency which contributes to the Fund a sum of money equal to or greater than the initial deposit derived from the proceeds of the export levy referred to in section 4 of this Act as at the date of the coming into force of this Act".
4. Section 7 of Act 583 amended
The principal enactment is amended in section 7 by the deletion of the word "commercial" in paragraph (c).
5. Section 10 of Act 583 amended
The principal enactment is amended in section 10 (1) by the deletion of the words "private sector".
6. Long Title to Act 583 amended
The Long Title to the principal enactment is amended by the deletion of the words "private commercial".
