LONG TITLE
AN ACT to provide for the registration of certain persons who were licensed to practice as auctioneers before and after the coming into force of the Auction Sales Law, 1989 (PNDCL 230) and for related matters.

ACT
1. Application for auctioneer’s licence
A person who before the coming into force of the Auction Sales Law, 1989 (PNDCL 230) and whose license has not been renewed at the date of the coming into force of this Act, may apply to the Board under section 6 of the Auction Sales Law, 1989, for the grant of an auctioneer’s licence.
2. Grant of licence
(1) Where the Board is satisfied that an applicant under section 1 of this Act
- (a) was duly issued with a licence under the Auction Sales Ordinance (cap 196), or
- (b) has been in practice as an auctioneer prior to the coming into force of the Auction Sales Law, 1989 (PNDCL 230), or
- (c) had been issued with a licence by the Board under the Auction Sales Law, 1989, or
- (d) had been issued with a licence by the Police Service after the coming into force of the Auction Sales Law 1989,
the Board shall issue the applicant with the auctioneer’s licence on the payment of the relevant fees.
(2) A person seeking to enter into practice as an auctioneer after the coming into force of this Act shall comply with the provisions of the Auction Sales Law, 1989 (P.N.D.C.L. 230).
3. Interpretation
(1) For the purposes of this Act, “Board” means the Board established under section 1 of the Auction Sales Law, 1989 (PNDCL 230)
(2) This Act shall be read as one with the Auction Sales Law, 1989 and where there is a conflict, this Act shall prevail.
